Periodization training is a year-round conditioning program structured into phases to meet sport-specific goals.  It is based on the principle that by varying the timing and intensity of the workouts, the greatest gains in strength, speed, power, and endurance can be achieved. This course is designed to teach the high school coach or teacher how periodization works, why it is used, and how to integrate it into a comprehensive training program.  This course is also useful for designing sport-specific programs to assist the student athletes in reaching their personal conditioning goals. It not only explains how to properly apply the concept of periodization, but also illustrates specific exercises to use within the periodization program to improve athletic performance. This course includes hundreds of illustrations, tables, photos, and tools to create both short- and long-term workouts for over 30 sports, tailored to the functional needs of each sport.
